At least, that's the image some adults have of young people. But are these assumptions correct? For the past two years, I conducted research on behalf of Stichting Toekomstbeeld der Techniek (STT) into the possible influence of technology on the future of democracy.
My research shows, among other things, that young people are much more aware of information technologies than is often thought. For example, they are much better at recognizing fake news than their parents and do not blindly copy everything We provide high-quality Whatsapp list we have they hear or read. In this article I take a closer look at my research. And I show what we can learn from young people when it comes to using new technologies. These and other insights about the relationship between technology and democracy are compiled in my new book Alive and Clicking – There Is Hope for Democracy affiliate.
